Event Details

Juno award winning singer/songwriter Cara Luft will be performing a live benefit concert on April 30 at River Park Church to support the ‘Ubuntu’ development work in Malawi.

Ubuntu is a group from New Hope Church in Calgary whose mission is to build a reciprocal relationship with a community in Africa.  The word ‘ubuntu’ has its origin in the Bantu languages of Southern Africa and refers to an ethic or humanist philosophy focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other.

Ubuntu supports community development through seed loans, ecosan latrines, goat distribution and providing lunches for orphans through nursery schools. These particular projects aim to increase food security and to provide opportunities for income generation. The work is done in partnership with the local agency Nkhoma Relief and Development through the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.
